Chemistry is a unit that is all about the intricate details that are all around us and how they point to a brilliant Creator. It is a unit full of adventure and discovery, awe and wonder, and engaging facts that will capture the whole family! Hands on activities and experiments, real life application, and creative connections will make this a unit you won't soon forget!
The writing project: The writing project for this unit goes back to the building blocks of writing: paragraphs. Students of all ages will be learning about different types of paragraphs, paragraph structure, and so much more! They will finish the unit by writing a paragraph of their own. Please note, the writing project for this unit is daily, so this is an in-depth solid month on paragraphs designed to not just write but form a deeper understanding through learning and identifying. *Also note, the Writing Track for this unit is already included in your Student Books! It has been pulled out and is also being sold separately so that it can be used alongside any unit regardless of the theme, to provide additional practice for those who want it.
The Bible focus: As we learn about the ingredients of matter, we focus on one of the ingredients of our Christian walk . . . love. The recitation passage for this unit is 1 Corinthians 13:1-7 (Love is patient, love is kind . . . ). And these are worked into the daily devotionals, which are at the end of the lesson rather than the beginning to help hold attention a bit easier for younger students and tie into the lesson more.
The art focus: As we focus on the elements of the periodic table, we also focus on the elements of art.
Special features: Middle and high school has a sixth page for each day that goes into much more depth and detail. Students of all ages will learn about each element of the periodic table with a special feature in our Teacher's Guide called the Periodic Periodical. This section teaches interesting facts and uses for 5-6 elements per day, which students can find and color on their periodic table in their appendix.
