I have read several posts the past few days about GRH not being enough and I want to offer some encouragement. I have homeschooled for 11 years. I am teaching 11th, 6th, 2nd, and preschool. My 2nd grader is severely delayed and has special needs. I have used Abeka, Sonlight, Christian Light, Rod and Staff, Genesis Curriculum, and we did Classical Conversations for 3 years. I have only completed North American Birds and we are currently working through US Government. This is the most excited I, as the teacher/parent, and my children have ever been about homeschooling....EVER. My son, with special needs has thanked me over and over for finding GR. And not only are we feeling fulfilled, our Umbrella School, HomeLife Academy has recognized GR for high-school credits. I have added a few things for my high schooler that she has to have: foreign language, British Literature, and Algebra 2. I love our time together and the opportunities this curriculum has given us to glorify God. I hope this encourages someone to look deeper into the reasons you have chosen to homeschool. ❤️
Just downloaded the first level of Growing Up With God, and perused through the kids' workbooks. Wow! I am super pleased. Looking through them, I am actually considering doing it this summer so I can really focus and talk with them. I have a 9yo girl, 8yo boy and 6yo boy... We tend to talk openly about body parts and have always used the scientific names. The images and artwork is very tastefully but accurately done, and I would have no problems showing them even to my 6yo. Thank you so much for putting some much prayer and letting God guide you in this, Rebecca!
I wanted to come on here and say a big thank you to Gather 'Round Homeschool. Big huge PRAISE. This isn't just school. It's discipleship! My kids are talking about what they are learning in their lessons. Not just the lesson but how God is weaved into everything. My daughter was showing and telling all about her St Patricks lapbook. She was explaining about how St Patrick was kidnapped and prayed 100 times a day, followed God, and the 3 leaf clover (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). She is telling this to her friends and family who don't know the Lord. This curriculum is changing lives. Thank you!
I just wanted to pop on here and say how awesome Vikings is!!! Ok we're only on lesson 7, but between building turf houses and long boats, making our own chain mail out of key chain rings and holding our own Viking games... my kids are having a blast! The lapbook is a lot of fun too. Such a great way to switch things up.
