DESCRIPTION

Is this a Full Unit or Mini Unit? Botany is a Full Unit. Our Full Units are 20 lessons long and designed to take 4-6 weeks to complete. The Student Notebooks from Early Reader and up have 5 pages per day and are designed to cover all your subjects other than math. Mini Units are often shorter in length or in output and while they do have crossover into multiple subjects, they are more focused and intentional on the topic of the unit. They also tend to be more hands-on with less written output. Some families alternate Full Units with Mini Units while others do them alongside one another.

What is this unit about? Welcome to Botany! Not only is this full unit absolutely beautiful, it is designed to go deep with purposeful connections to everyday life that make it meaningful. Your kids will be cooking and baking to connect the parts of the plants in nature with the foods that they eat. They will be labeling, making observations, recording, researching, and learning more about the incredible plant world and its impact on our lives.

The writing project for this unit is to create a Botany Book, in which they can make key observations and learn how to take notes. Each day has some cut outs for the younger students who might not be as into art, and there are many adaptations! We have also included an example on each page from the lesson to give visual inspiration for our more visual students. Finally, we have put together a Botany book of our own that you can purchase if you like our nature journal feel. (Check out our add on posters and Botany Book for this unit and don't forget to add in your cursive writing notebook focusing on spelling, copywork, and the fruit of the Spirit.)

Make your own flower press, learn about the effects of disappearing bees, how maple syrup is made, experiments, watch videos, look at beautiful illustrations and diagrams, and so much more! This is the unit so many of us have been waiting for, it's time for spring!

Try a free lesson on us below—it's the best possible way to see how this works and place your kids in the right levels.

What should I buy? You can purchase a leveled bundle with one student notebook of your choice and the Teacher's Guide, or the full family bundle that includes all levels with the Teacher's Guide. If you have more than one child you are buying for, it is more economical to get the full bundle to re-use in the future with your kids at older levels. All digital bundles come as an instant download in PDF format for you to print at home.

How long are units designed to last?  Each unit is designed to be 4-6 weeks. Our main units and most of our mini units include 20 lessons and can be done as a 4-day school week (lasting 5 weeks) or a 5-day school week (lasting 4 weeks) to offer flexibility. You're in control! Set a schedule that works best for your family and your pace will dictate how quickly you complete any given unit.

Check out the Resources! Most of our units have a free resource page on our free app. These have video links for each lesson, a way to track what you have done, as well as suggested reading lists, PDF downloads, and more! Click on the button a little further down to see what we have for this unit.
