Is this a Full Unit or Mini Unit? Europe is a Full Unit. Our Full Units are 20 lessons long and designed to take 4-6 weeks to complete. The Student Notebooks from Early Reader and up have 5 pages per day and are designed to cover all your subjects other than math. Mini Units are often shorter in length or in output and while they do have crossover into multiple subjects, they are more focused and intentional on the topic of the unit. They also tend to be more hands-on with less written output. Some families alternate Full Units with Mini Units while others do them alongside one another.
What is this unit about? Europe, our second connecting continents unit, is one of our most popular units in the series. Learn about famous composers, people, and events that have shaped our world today. From history to geography to scientific discoveries, your adventure through Europe is the perfect way to continue your world schooling experience!
While it has a focus on geography, history, and social studies, Europe covers all your subjects but math—connecting people and places to the world of science and tying in LA in the process. Your writing project for this unit is writing postcards, even including the Gather 'Round Head Office address for you to send cards to! The perfect way to get your kids excited about writing!
What should I buy? You will need to purchase a physical workbook for each child as well as a Teacher's Guide for yourself. The Teacher's Guides contain all the actual teaching, they are not just for answers, so they are critical to your lessons. Printed books are printed on 32lb. paper and are shipped to you coil-bound.
How long are units designed to last? Each unit is designed to be 4-5 weeks. Our main units and most of our mini units include 20 lessons and can be done as a 4-day school week (lasting 5 weeks) or a 5-day school week (lasting 4 weeks) to offer flexibility. You're in control! Set a schedule that works best for your family and your pace will dictate how quickly you complete any given unit.
Check out the Resources! Most of our units have a free resource page on our free app. These have video links for each lesson, a way to track what you have done, as well as suggested reading lists, PDF downloads, and more! Click on the button a little further down to see what we have for this unit.
