This unit was designed to be a throwback to our earliest and one of our most popular units—North American Birds. Each lesson focuses on a different animal and is packed with information about their appearance, habitat, life cycle, and many more interesting facts. You will also learn about the different types of forests throughout North America that these animals call home. There is no color coding in these lessons, because the information is appropriate for all ages!
In the Student Books, notebooking pages are simple and open-ended, giving plenty of room to sketch and label each animal and take notes about what was most interesting to you. There’s also a daily geography page to learn more about the types of North American forests, animal habitats, migration patterns, mountain ranges, major bodies of water, and so much more!
For the first time ever, the writing project for this unit is going virtual! Learn how to use Google Slides to put together a slideshow presentation on an animal of your choice. We will walk step-by-step through the process of how to use Google Slides, how to organize your information, and how to put together a fun and informative presentation to share with your family.

How long are units designed to last? Each unit is designed to be 4-5 weeks. Our main units and most of our mini units include 20 lessons and can be done as a 4-day school week (lasting 5 weeks) or a 5-day school week (lasting 4 weeks) to offer flexibility. You're in control! Set a schedule that works best for your family and your pace will dictate how quickly you complete any given unit.
