US History 1 is the first in a series of six mini units that move chronologically through time to teach United States History from a Christian worldview. In this first unit, your family will journey from the beginning through the French and Indian War, exploring Indigenous Peoples, the discovery of a new world, the colonies, and the first Thanksgiving.
Because this unit covers sensitive topics such as Christopher Columbus, slavery, Thanksgiving, and Indigenous Americans, we have spent countless hours researching and presenting the information in a thoughtful way that leaves room for you as the parent to decide how you want to approach these conversations in your home. Be sure to try the free lesson below to get a feel for the tone, content, and level placement.
Our Mini Units are often shorter in length or output and are more focused and intentional on the topic being studied. They also tend to be more hands-on with less written output than our Full Units. As you work through the full US History series, don’t forget to add the Timeline Book and Timeline Figures so your family can build on them as you go.
This listing is for the printed books. If you prefer a digital option, a digital version is available separately.
What should I buy? For print, you will need a physical Student Notebook for each child plus a Teacher’s Guide for yourself. The Teacher’s Guide contains the actual teaching, not just the answers, so it is a key part of the lessons.
