    DESCRIPTION

Is this a Full Unit or Mini Unit?  Winter Games is a mini unit with a twist! The Teacher’s Guide includes four lessons, designed to be completed in one week. However, the Viewing Guide contains pages for 20 different events, which can be completed as you watch the entire competition.

What is this unit about? Every four years, athletes from around the world come together to compete in these wintry events as the audience cheers in delight. Now you can join in, too! In the four-lesson long Teacher’s Guide, we explain the history and origin of the games, what it's like to host them, the ins and outs of competing at such a high level, and more. Covering the content is just the first step, though. The most fun part of the games is watching them, so check out the interactive Viewing Guide to go alongside the teaching. We’ve taken 20 of the most exciting sports and turned each one into a single page to focus on as you watch along, complete with tidbits of information like required gear, how to play, and rules of the game. At the bottom of every page, your student will record information about the outcomes of the events they watch. If you find yourself all in and want even more, check out the Resource Library in our app where you can download and print as many extra tracking sheets as you’d like!

    • Level 1 is for pre-reader and early readers, with large illustrations and a few interesting facts.

    • Level 2 is designed for early to upper elementary students, with vibrant images and a bit more information.

    • Level 3 is designed for middle-to-high schoolers, with extra background knowledge and the opportunity to draw the flags of the winning countries.

What should I buy? This unit comes in both print and digital formats. Simply choose the format that works for you: printed and shipped to you, or digital, where you print on your own at home!

PRINT You will need to purchase a physical workbook for each child as well as a Teacher's Guide for yourself. The Teacher's Guides contain all the actual teaching, they are not just for answers, so they are critical to your lessons.

DIGITAL The digital family bundle comes with the Teacher's Guide and all three levels of student notebooks in digital format. They come as a digital download in PDF format for you to print at home and are licensed for individual immediate family use within your own household only. Please note that there are no refunds or exchanges allowed on digital items.

How long is it designed to last?  The teaching of this unit is four lessons long, designed to be completed in one week, with the Viewing Guide intended to be used throughout the entire length of the Winter Games. That being said, you are in control! Set a schedule that works best for your family and your pace will dictate how quickly you complete any given unit.

Check out the Resources! Most of our units have a free resource page on our free app. These often include video links, supply lists, PDF downloads, and more! Click on the button a little further down to see what we have for this unit!
